FDA Food & Drug
The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) regulate the importation and domestic sale and distribution of food products, cosmetics, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, fish products, certain food products including small amounts of meat (bovine, poultry and pork), importations of game meat and so much more.
Individuals or firms wish to export FDA regulated food products into the USA must be registered with the FDA and obtain be issued an FDA Registration number. Each importation of food products must be issued an FDA Prior Notice through the FDA PNSI system or via the U.S. Customs Brokers operating system. Time frames for obtaining an FDA Prior Notice vary depending upon the mode of transportation. For truck shipments into the USA the FDA Prior Notice must be issued two (2) hours before the shipment arrives at the port of entry.
